Nanomaterials are materials at nano-scale that is created using nanotechnology, and displays different physical chemical characteristics from normal chemicals (e.g., silver nano, carbon nanotubes, fullerenes, photocatalysts, carbon nano, silica).

The development of nanotechnology has led to the emergence of nano substances and products consisting of nano substances, and gives rise to concerns of risk to the human health and the environment. The number of products containing nano substances is difficult to grasp, and is rapidly increasing. Such products include silver nano coating for washing machines, silver nano detergents, anti-bacteria devices, cellphone batteries, cosmetics, medical supplies.
