Combining document analysis to iterative and socially framed risk analysis has strong potential to ensure the earliest identification of the greatest potential areas of environment, health, and social impact uncertainties and associated concerns for emerging nano- and converging technologies, matched to the pace of technological innovation itself.

The application of such approaches can potentially provide the most up to date information to support risk governance activities that are complementary to regulation but can be enacted early on in the innovation process. We here turn to those for whom risk forms a core part of their business, the insurance industry.

Critical Ingredients:

  • Technical Understanding of Nano materials, products and processes
  • Potential Applications
  • Identification and Assessment of Potential Risk
