NQCG started as a loose project back in year 2000 to investigate the marvels of nanotechnology, quantum information systems and quantum technologies.

After years of preparation, on January 1, 2004, NQCG becomes an independent legal entity — the birthday of Nordic Quantum Computing Group AS (NQCG).

It all started with the bringing together of a team of distinguished professors in computer science, artificial intelligence, mathematics, linguistics, logic and philosophy, coming from University of Oslo´s Department of Informatics (IFI). This excellent group of logicians and computer scientists was formed to better understand computational linguistics applied in nanoscience.

Another great team of distinguished professors was formed in areas of quantum physics, chemistry and nanomaterials science, coming from the University of Oslo´s Department of Physics (FI) and Department of Chemistry (KI), and from the Institute for Energy Technology (IFE), an international research foundation for energy and nuclear technology, all together involved in the nationally coordinated research network (COMPLEX) representing the strongest research groups in complex matter science in Norway.

With the combination of these interdisciplinary teams was formed an eminent group of thought leaders committed to the advancement of quantum information science, engineering and technology.

Today our research activities span broad areas of science, engineering and technology, mostly undertaken in joint projects with academic, government and industry stakeholders from across the globe.

We believe nanotechnology, artificial intelligence and quantum technologies will change about everything we know about who we are, as a species, and what our world looks like. Join us in writing the next chapter of our history.
